A view from the ramparts of the castle of Baia shows a typical suburban sprawl with non-descript traffic routes winding through an area of luxurious contemporary villas and apartment blocks, an echo perhaps of the Baia of classical times when the shoreline was host to the immense palaces and villas of the Roman elite.
